Australia in crisis

Today in Australia:

  • An estimated 53,974 women and 19,400 children are experiencing homelessness. Domestic and family violence is the leading cause.

  • Women over 55 are the fastest growing group facing homelessness.

  • 1 in 4 women experience domestic violence by an intimate partner.

  • On average, 1 woman is killed by a partner every 9 days.

Statistics: 2021 Census data and Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
