4 Voices recognises that the confidentiality of personal information is vitally important and is committed to respecting the privacy of individuals. The following policy provides an understanding of how personal information received by 4 Voices will be treated.
Collecting, using and disclosing personal information
Personal information means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.
The types of personal information 4 Voices collects may include names, contact information and credit/debit card information. Credit/debit card information is not stored by 4 Voices. All credit card transactions are directly transmitted to and processed by the National Australia Bank.
4 Voices may collect and use personal information for several purposes, including to:
process payments and issue receipts
thank supporters and send updates
communicate about opportunities (such as new services and events).
4 Voices is committed to taking reasonable steps to protect the personally identifiable information that is provided to it. 4 Voices does not sell, swap or give any data to any external company or organisation. 4 Voices will not disclose personal information to any person except where it is required by law to do so.
Opting out of communications
Where 4 Voices uses personal information to send communications, it will provide the recipient with an opportunity to opt-out of receiving such information.
By electing not to opt-out, 4 Voices will assume that it has the recipient's implied consent to receive similar information and communications in the future.
4 Voices will always ensure that its opt-out notices are clear, conspicuous, and easy to take up.
Website usage information
Anyone can visit the 4 Voices website without revealing any personal information.
Only aggregate information is provided to 4 Voices about the number and types of visitors, and it does not collect personally identifiable information. This is anonymous statistical data, and no attempt will be made by 4 Voices to identify users on their web browsing activities. 4 Voices uses this data to evaluate website performance and improve content.
4 Voices does not collect sensitive information, such as gender, sexuality or beliefs, about supporters or online visitors.
Storage of personal information
4 Voices takes all reasonable steps to protect any personal information it holds from misuse, interference, and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while 4 Voices strives to protect personal information, it cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information transmitted to it and senders do so at their own risk.
Access to and correction of personal information
If anyone wishes to access or seek correction of any personal information that 4 Voices holds, please email info@4voices.org.au. All requests for access or correction will be treated seriously and will be dealt with promptly and in a confidential manner.
Complaints
4 Voices embraces the principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (the 'Act'). The National Privacy Principles as set out in the Act (as amended by the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000), are applicable to it.
